This just out of curiosity and nastalgic purposes but when did JVC get out of the home theater receiver business? When I first got into home theater, way back probably close to 20 years ago and didn't know what I was doing I got very cheap Teac speakers and a really cheap JVC receiver. It didn't even have DTS decoding it was that far back. I upgraded probably within 4 months after I educated myself and got deeper into quality audio and home theater.

Nostalgic question?

I don't remember JVC ever being associated with quality equipment. I've listened to a few units back in the day. Seems like they were in a lot of cars too? I think they still do a/v for cars.

Yeah it wasn't good equipment. I quickly learned that and moved on. Just curious as I know a lot knowledgeable people and people who that know history of stuff like this come here.

Au contraire, they made the absolute finest S-VHS machines back in the heyday of VCRs. Unfortunately near the end of the format they cheaped ’em out (as did everyone else).

I also had a really nice JVC three-head cassette deck back in the late ’80s.

Don’t look at me like that, the thread is about JVC nostalgia. :D

Thanks I just wanted to start a fun thread on something not so serious. No one bit. Let's turn this into any audio company you miss, that used to be great but isn't, or is out of business or just not the same anymore. I'm sure you guys have a list?.
