CRT projector mounted inside of a table, any thoughts?

I have seen some pretty nice ideas on the web and also in an old barco brochure of CRT projectors being built inside of elaborate coffee tables. I like this idea and have thought about doing something similar for my barco graphics 808s / Cine 8 projector, but would like to here other peoples opinions, pros/cons, before I jump into such a large task of constructing the table.

you can view more info about the projector and theater in progress at my website www.basementtheater.com

Thanks for your input.

Here are some things to consider when doing this

#1 Ventilation and heat dissipation
#2 proper throw distance
#3 proper height of the CRT in relationship with the screen
This is the area where most floor mount PJ’s are installed incorrectly
And most often they are tilted upward to rectify the install, Keystone is then used to square the picture.

When a CRT projector is installed with correct mechanical and physical alignment very little electronic correction will be needed Thus providing a better image that is far more stable with less convergence drift Different
CRT projectors have different lens agle alighnment but a close rule of thumb is center of the CRT lense even with the bottom or top of the screen material
when CRT projector chassis is perfectly level depending on floor or ceiling mount

Hope this helps

Thanks for the input RLA.

I had thought about ventilation and throw distance, but the hieght of the projector never crossed my mind. I still like the idea of mounting it in a table but I do have low ceilings, which in turns forces the screen to be lower to the ground. The table may block the screen. Thanks for the advice. I am still looking for more feedback, thoughts, ideas, pictures if anyone else can assist.
