Crown xli 1500

I have a crown xli 1500 coming ina few days.


A couple questions--

1- how do i set gains, it has clip indicators but surely i dont go off that alone.

Secondly, im using xlr to rca cords ans i noticed just below the rca inputs there's a selector switch saying 1.4v or .775v , what should i be using?

For mains if I recall correctly? I'd set gain so that it just barely clips with the highest level content you'd use. I'd start with the 1.4V setting and use the .775V setting only if I couldn't get full output with the 1.4V setting. If your pre-amp has rca pre-outs I'd just use those since the XLi has rca inputs. If your pre has XLR outputs then you could use XLR cables....
