Awesome! Haven't seen this movie in a long time, I'll wait for the blu-ray release now.

j, I don't know why, or what I may have read, but I have some sinking feeling that I should not get my hopes for the PQ on this title. Are my fears unfounded to the best of your knowledge? Of course, I really hope it would look fantastic . . . but my hopes aren't high for some reason.

Curse of the Golden Flower and House of Flying Daggers are on the polar opposites of the PQ scale. Hm.

HoFD is known to be a terrible transfer, while CotGF is highly praised for PQ and I agree with both of those comments. HoFD was one of the earliest BDs that came out, and without a lot of experience, the transfer didn't really have the benefit of current techniques. I have an imported original copy on SD and it looks great, so the master used for the BD may not have been the same one. The BD doesn't look any better than the SD, not unlike my first BD purchase, Sleepy Hollow.

Based on the long delay, I would expect CTHD to look great, as the former Superbit version already looked and sounded excellent. My hopes are high.

This another, "Bout frickin time" for me.

Geez. Why have the movie companies been delaying in putting out the titles that people obviously want??? "Let's spend time remastering movies from the 60's and 70's instead of movies made in the last decade or so."
