Yeah I was a little scared to tell Emotiva the truth because I thought they might consider that abuse but they were cool about it. They did say they wouldn't help me out with my blown speakers but I guess that's to be expected. The guy you don't want to hire is Ted at Optimum Sound and Vision.

San Francisco Bay Area, California - Audio/Video & Home Theater Systems Consultant, ISF Certified Video Calibrator, Audio Calibration Specialist
The site lists them as a THX Level 2 certified professional. That's not saying much. Level 1 is a one day seminar and Level 2 is a two day seminar. The ISF certification for the video end at least means he's qualified in that area.

I'd rather have somebody who's HAA certified:

HAA Home Theater Audio Calibration

I'm glad Emotiva was willing to work with you. Granted it still sucks paying to ship that beast back to Tenny. Hopefully you'll be able to find a replacement center channel speaker.

EMO service rocks!!!

Time for new speakers...haha.
I said that to my wife last night, it didn't go over so well.

Got my replacement tweeter for the left front yesterday, so my front stage is back up and running.

The good news is I should have my amp back by Friday. Emotiva got my amp last Friday. They fixed it and shipped it out yesterday!!! Got the Fed-X tracking number e-mail last night. One day service on a warranty claim?!?!? That's crazy!

Thanks Emo!!! :D

Yes, I have only had to deal with their customer service once and I can also say they really do take care of their customers.

Well, the crappy weekend's continue unfortunately.

I got the amp back from Emotiva last Friday and immediately ran home after work to get everything set up again. For some reason I was only getting sound from 2 of the 5 channels. So I tried checking all the connections at the amp and the back of the UMC-1 and everything seemed to be fine. So I played a test tone from the UMC and started switching speaker connections to try and diagnose what was happening. Still no sound from the other 3 channels. After about 20 minutes of doing this the tone changed to a weird "out of phase" sound coming from everywhere sound. Then the unthinkable happened. Channel 4 of the amp blew!!!

You wouldn't believe the volume and number of obscenities I shouted. I just got my baby back and she's dead again not an hour later.

I just got off the phone with Emotiva and they are of course going to fix it again, but this time they are even covering the cost of shipping. That's pretty cool. I'm pretty upset that I'm going to be without my system for ANOTHER 2 weeks, but at least I don't have to pay another $50 in shipping charges.

That really sucks. I had the same problem with my B&K amp. Had to be send back to the factory in New York for repairs three times. I ended up putting an old Pro Logic receiver I had sitting around in the theater so at least I could use it. One time when it blew it took out my center channel speaker. Had to send that back to Canton for repairs, too.

That's the main reason the amp is now in my bedroom. I just don't trust it.
