Crackling Onkyo TX-NR3008

I've already done research on this topic but most of the articles are 3 years or older and I found nothing related to my receiver given the fact that it is a new model. So, I wanted to see if I could get some fresh ideas regarding this issue. What's happening is that I get occasional crackling that doesn't seem to be volume dependent most noticeably from my Surround Left position speaker (I typically sit closest to this speaker so it may be happening with others without me noticing it). The crackling doesn't seem to discriminate between cable TV and Blu-ray discs of varying tracks (DTS-HD, Dolby-HD) played from a Samsung and/or Panasonic BD Player.

From my readings, I saw that I should adjust the speaker size by changing the Frequency response setting: Was at '80Hz(THX)' but I set them to 40Hz after reading the specs of my satellites, Polk RM6751, whose frequency response is apparently 40Hz-24kHz. I admit I don't know too much about this subject other than Full Phase is apparently for large speakers and you can adjust the frequency response below that in increments of 10Hz from 30-120Hz. So my question is, can/should my Polk satellites handle the '80Hz(THX)' setting based on the specs 40Hz -24kHz? I listen to movies at a setting of about 65-68 (volume number). Before someone tells me anything about volume, the crackling doesn't always, if ever, happen during loud or sound intensive scenes. Last night, watching the A-Team, it was happening during quiet parts of the film. I haven't taxed the system with the speakers set to 40Hz yet so I can't say if that fixed the problem. I only started tweaking with the settings more in depth after literally Googling solutions while I was watching the movie.

Other suggestions stated I should check speaker connections--All appear to be properly connected but I'll take the time out today to re-seat everything just in case. I do not have banana plugs which will be my next step if none of the recommendations on this board work.

System Setup:
I have Polk Monitor 60 towers and a Klipsch RC-64 II center channel currently set to Full Phase. I previously had my center set to '80Hz(THX)' but after last night's reading and given the size of the center, it should do Full Phase without incident. Sub is a Klipsch SUB-12 and I have 4 Polk satellites. All speakers are connected by 14g cables that are shielded. The run lengths for the surrounds and rear surrounds is probably a good 20-30 ft each (runs up the ceiling wall, in the attic and down to where I have the speakers). At the helm, I have my newly purchased Onkyo TX-NR3008 that replaced my problematic Pioneer Elite VSX92TXH. The Pioneer had other issues but none related to sound. Everything is connected with Amazon branded HDMI 1.4 cables but also happened with my HDMI 1.3s. The receiver is less than a month old as is the BD player, the HDMI cables and the speaker wire. Everything is plugged into a surge protector with the exception of the receiver that has its own APC 500w UPS.

It was speakers

I thought I had this problem with my Onkyo 608. I was hearing crackling and some distortion. It turned out to be a bad connection to the speaker. Check all the connections and check the speaker wire for frays or damage. It could be a faulty speaker as well. (?)

Tonight I'm going to go through all of my connections as well as rotate my satellites around. I don't know if they're bad or blown... I've had them for 3 years now and this is the first time I've had a problem.

For starters, set the fronts to 60 Hz, and the surrounds to 120 Hz. Run Audyssey auto setup, then check the speaker settings.
