Crackle in one channel

I have a Dayton Audio APA150 amp. Lately the left channel has been cutting out whenever the volume knob is lower than halfway. The left channel also crackles whenever I turn the volume up or down.

Any ideas what might be causing a finicky channel or how to fix it?

It sounds like the volume controller is going or very dirty.
May want to spray some "pot cleaner/volume control cleaner

Would a dirty volume controller affect only one channel?

Yes, it can if it is a stereo component. Each channel has its own pot superimposed and synced on the same shaft, unless the volume is handled in the digital domain in which case it is something else.

Nailed it! Sprayed some contact cleaner in there and worked the knob back and forth a few dozen times, and bam, problem solved. Thanks for sharing your expertise!

Thanks for the update.
Glad this worked. We are here to learn and help so we don't reinvent the wheel. ;) :D
