Correct Equipment for in house speaker system?

My brother just purchased a house with in house speakers and volume controls and I am trying to confirm that he has the correct equipment to run it.

Specifically, I want to make sure he can run all the speakers off the amplifier and receiver he purchased.

Here is what he has:
Elan MM650 speakers (6 pairs)
Niles EVC-100 Speaker Controls (qty 6)
Onyko Receiver TX-NR1007
Integra ADM 2.1 amplifier
Russound SS-6.2 Speaker Selector
Xantech 789-44 Connecting Block

I don't understand much about ohms and impedence so that is where I am most confused. Can the amplifier power all these speakers at once? If he wants all speakers to be on then is the speaker selector doing anything more than serving as a clean way to connect all the speaker wire together? Is any addiitional equipment necessary between the amp and the speaker volume controls?

In regards to the IR control stuff, should he just purchase the Xantech 283D emitter to control his receiver?

Any other things he needs to consider with this setup?

Thanks in advance for your Help!

First I would not recommend running all 6 pairs at once with the amp. 2-3 would be ok at backround listening levels. Another option would be a distribution amp which would have separate amps per zone. Emitters would connect to the connection block and allow for control from a remote in each location where there is a volume control.

Seriously, I have no life.

If the speaker selector maintains proper impedance, running all 6 is fine. If the switcher has volume controls, like the SSVC-6 (same number, available from several brands), the level can be set/changed at that location and it works great.
