considering this sytem

I went to a local retailer, and was blown away by these martin logan preface speakers. I can get them for about 600 per speaker if I haggle. They sounded great on everything i played, from classical music, to concerts to surround sound blue ray dvd. Anyway they are a little bit out of my price range as of right now. I am just wondering has anyone had any experience with these?

This is my plan. I also heard this dev tech 5.1 system which sounded great as well. It's the pro cinemia 600 system, model number pc600bla. I will get these for now and save up some money, then get the 2 martin logan speakers i described above and convert it to a 7.1 system.

If anyone knows anything about any of these 2 systems i'd appreciate some advice. Also by mixing 2 brands of speakers is that going to hurt my quality at all?

well imo the consideration should be what are you going to do about the center channel? Timbre matching is going to be important. I ran a non matching center with mine for a short period, and while things were passable, the difference with the timbre match lcr was night and day. The surrounds, unless your die hard sacd, dva, dts cd fan and listen to opera, shouldnt be a problem. The speakers play fairly high spleffeciently, but consider a 130wplus amp section, thats 4ohm stable.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of mixing and matching speakers either.

If you love MartinLogan, then plan on getting all MartinLogan speakers. If all you can afford right now is $1,200, then just buy 2 MartinLogan L + R speakers. Then add more speakers (Center + Surrounds) as you save up.
