Connectivity problems

I recently installed a new receiver (Integra DTR-70.1) and, while I had no problems with my Satellite receiver connectivity via HDMI, I am having a bit of a problem with my DVD player (a Denon DVD-1920). It's also connected via HDMI but I get no sound at all. I get a picture, but no matter what I change in the setup, no sound at all.
I see all sorts of vague warnings in the manual about compatible bitstreams, etc when connecting via HDMI, but no luck thus far.
Any advice from someone who has been there? I know it's time to upgrade to a shiny new BluRay player, but for now, I'd like to keep the kids entertained.
Thanks.

Just connect a cable from the DVD player's digital audio out to the receiver. That one is older than HDMI 1.3 and 1.4

Agreed - it's an old DVD player. Is it simply incompatible? I was hoping to get it working without running another cable. Thanks.

In the player, verify that the 5.1 multichannel analog audio outputs are turned off. When analog is enabled, HDMI audio is turned off. Analog must be enabled when playing SACD discs, so if you use the player for SACDs, you'll need to connect its analog outputs to your AVR, too. (see ppg 26 & 30 of the manual)

the above post hit it on the head. I have the 1930ci, you need to enable the hbmi audio output, refer to the owners manual.
