The best think I can figure, if you want to use all of the gear, is to connect the preamp to the Onkyo by using the headphone jack on the front of the Onkyo. You will have to make sure the receiver doesn't have an auto speaker deactivation when headphones are connected. You will need a 1/4" to 1/8" headphone adapter, a 1/8" to stereo RCA adapter, two female to dual male y-adapters, and a set of stereo RCA cables.

If you front PSB's are NOT bi-wirable you will not need the y-adapters at this time and my not have a practical use for the second audiosource amplifier at this time.

You will have to take some time to level match and adjust the preamps volume, and once you have it set correctly you may not want to adjust it.

NOTE: This is all considering that the receiver will not shut off speaker outputs when the headphones jack is being used. This setup requires that you use the receiver to power the surrounds and center channel while the audiosource gear is used to power the fronts. This is not an optimal setup and I would reccomend getting a receiver upgrade when you can so you will have the preout feature that you would get on the Onkyo TX-SR705 for example. At that point you would use the preoutputs to feed the Audiosource amplifier directly and you could use the Audiosource preamp for another separate setup.:)

If you have any more questions I am sure someone can further advise you, I will be unavailable until Sunday.

I hope this isn't confusing.

You cannot use a pre-amp and separate amps with the Onkyo 505 receiver because it does not have pre-outs. Seth's workaround will not work because the receiver will mute the speakers when the headphone jack is used.

Seriously, I have no life.

Most likely those speakers are 4 ohm so you need a good amp for them.
What is the audio source, CD, DVD? Perhaps the player has analog outs, then you can use the preamps and amps, but you only have 4ch, not 5.
Back to the drawing board?

I wasn't sure if it would or not, I have had receivers that mute the speakers when the headphones jack is activated and others that don't mute unless you press a button deactivating them. I will trust the Onkyo master on this.:) So yeah, you can't use those components together. You could set up a separate stereo with the Audiosource equipment and continue use the Onkyo with the PSBs until you find a more suitable receiver to power them.
