New to the forum, but not forums in general LOL. I searched, but could not find an exact answer, so here goes...
I have an hdtv that only has component in for hd connection (not the main tv, but my playroom one). I have a HK AVR146 reciever, and and upconvert dvd I want to put on it. can I connect the hdmi from the dvd to the rec, and then component out to the tv? I have hooked up the opt sound cable as well, but get no picture (I do if I connect the comp cables). Is it because hdmi is digital, and the comp is analog that this won't work this way?

Thanks

Yep, you're right. You can check your owner's manual to make sure, but I have yet to see a receiver that can convert a digital HDMI signal into an analog component signal.
