Hi,

I have an ASUS A7N8x-e Deluxe motherboard with Nvidia Soundstorm and I am building up a 5.1 surround sound system but I can't work out how I am susposed to connect the speakers to the analogue outputs as I want to use two sets of 14W RMS Creative T20 2.0 speakers for the rear surrounds and the front stereo speakers, a Tannoy Mercury FC Custom for the centre speaker with a self built 16W RMS amplifier and possibly I might later add a subwoofer that I designed a few months ago and add another amp for this. You can configure some of the analogue outputs to be either mic in/subwoofer and centre or another one can be configured to be centre/subwoofer. Also if I connect these speakers up will I get 5.1 in everything such as music, games etc or will I need to buy a separate AV box with Pro Logic II for example?

I used to have the a7n8x-Deluxe. I believe the -E has the same soundcard.

Mine had the normal Green/Blue/Pink connectors plus an Orange and Black for rears and the sub. I used a 5.1 computer system so setup was pretty simple. If your case your going to have to experiment with it. Green will be LR, Orange will be Surrounds, Black will be sub/center.

There's a utility on asus' site called "speaker switcher" or something like that. It plays a test tone through the speakers and lets you switch left/right, LS/RS, Center/Sub.

Also the driver has some sound mode presets that will take 2.1 and make it 5.1, if I recall.
