Ok, I need some help hooking up all this stuff.....

Here's what I have/will have....

HAVE
DLP 62" TV - mitsubishi (HDMI™ – High Definition Multimedia Interface, IEEE 1394, CableCARD™ Slot, NetCommand®, ChannelView™, MediaCommand™)??
DirecTiVo
Ps2

WILL HAVE
2 controllers - wireless
Computer
keyboard - wireless
mouse - wireless
VCR
Surround Sound System???? (don't know anything about this, but I know my husband wants it) I would also like to have wireless speakers with this, if that's possible.

If you have any suggestion of which brand of the products I've listed "WILL HAVE", please let me know.

I need "easy understanding" instructions on how to hook all this up. PLEASE! (the less amount of actual wires, the better)

thanks,

Okay, but before we start giving you hook-up instructions, what kind of budget are you looking at? How large is your room? And what are the constraints on appearance, size, etc?

Oh, and welcome!

If you are starting from scratch, it seems as if it will be a lengthy process. Too long and complicated to be explained on a thread. Has your husband ever hooked up a computer, stereo, or home theater? If not, I would suggest having a friend or relative who knows their way around electronics come over and give you a hand (friend, relative, & sons of them are always a good sounding board regarding this). I cant tell you how many systems I hooked up for friends of my parents when I was growing up! If there isnt anyone you can think of, i would see if the store you bought the equipment at will help. they might charge a fee but it will be minimal with a purchase and could be worth it in the long run. if the store you bought the equipment doesnt offer any "at home" services, then you might think about getting outside help from a specialty store...one that specializes in home theaters. That approach could cost a pretty penny so exaust all your friends and relatives first!

If youd like, List what city you live in and maybe someone here can offer a reputable store to call.

Is this a present for your husband???

if so, you get TONS of points!

You won't like these no matter how much you spend. 'wireless' will still require an unsightly power cord for each speaker (instead of just one for a standard AVR), and the electrical costs for that installation will be hefty. And any battery powered speakers will costs aplenty in batteries over time.

You can get the look of wireless by running the cables behind the walls, or do one better and have 'in-wall' speakers installed. They are fairly pricy and require professional installation, but can be painted to match the room and "disappear" far better than even the tinyest 'cube'.
