Connecting a passive subwoofer to modern recievers directly.

Things are very different in India. Homes are on the whole small and stable electricity supplies in parts can be a problem. Above all the gap between what is luxury and necessity is far different from here. In other words the market for this sort of gear is in no way comparable to here.

When it comes to home audio and video people only know about Sony and Pioneer HTIB which retail around (550-900 usd). No one really knows about good audio equipment.

I did what you are trying to do by purchasing a $13usd amp and hooking it up to the Sub out on the A/V receiver. And my old passive Subwoofer.
Works well for the money. I used an old IBM laptop power adapter. Or you can buy one recommended on Amazon.
