Connecting 2 speaker cables?

Is there a problem with connecting 2 lenghts of speaker wire together?

I would use solder and cover the connection with heat shrink tubing.
 
That's probably the best way to do it as it would make a very solid connection and not be so easily pulled apart.

Another viable option I think is to use 'bullet' connectors - available at radio shack. Then you would have plug and play. If the wire turns out to be too short because you move equipment, you can just get another longer wire, terminate it with one of the bullet connectors and plug it into the other end.
