Confused on Installation of new receiver and existing speakers

Old System:
Denon AVR2802 6.1 surround
Axiom speakers M60 left and right, VP100 front and rear, QS4 centers, 2 subs.

Room is A-frame shape with many doors. Not a good room.

However the question is how to wire in my existing speakers on the new Denon AVR 787 which is 7.1 and has the connectors for a Left and Right Back. Since I only have the one speaker should it be wired on one or the other. OR should I buy another speaker? I have tried to figure it out from the manual but it ignores the fact that I might only have the one speaker.

Thanks -

My Denon manual says connect a single rear speaker to the left rear output. Do that and then run the auto setup function. The reciever will figure out that you only have one speaker there.

The manual for the receiver should indicate which terminal to use if you only have one surround back speaker (6.1). Typically it is the left terminal of the surround back speakers.

Thanks!

I have read over the manual and did find on page 54 that when doing the setup I can set it to 1 speaker. However nowhere did I find which terminals to use. I will connect to the left. Thanks very much!
