Confused...a little help?

I really need to get new speakers because mine cut out at times and when the sound isnt playing the sub makes a little buzzing sound and vibrates *i have no idea if thats normal of not*

what i am using now is:
Altec lansing multimedia
60hz 55w

i am thinking about getting this one:

but its weird, others have less watts and cost $50 more...does that mean at times less watts can be better? im confused...also is this one better than my current speaker system or not?

In my opinion, there are 2 types of multimedia speakers:

1 - (usually) THX certified 2.1 or 5.1 speakers that cost around $150-250.
2 - All the rest.

At your price point ($20), just pick anything - you don't even have to listen to them. But realize that the buzzing, etc could be your particular setup and sound card.

800 watts is ridiculously exaggerated. for 20 bucks you probobly wont be stepping the quality of the ones you already own, unless the one you own is broken.

im sure its worth 20 bucks, but dont expect too much more.

yeah i was thinking the same thing w/the 800 watt thing.

...as for the buzzing i havent noticed it til a few weeks ago when i barely bumped it...so i dont know whats going on there.

for the price range of $20-50 what type of sound quality am i looking at? thats sort of vague lol.

They won't rattle the walls but, for the price, they do a pretty good job on my 'puter. ...but they ain't no 800 watts.

im not sure.. i dont know much about computer speakers, but my logitechs were pretty nice for the money. I bought them used and cheap though. Mine cost 130 new though so im not sure how the lower end ones sound.

does the creative one just plug right into the headphone port?...or is it more complicated than that.

i think the sub plugs into the headphone jack, and will have a power cord that goes in the wall. then the 2 speakers connect to the sub.

with my 5.1 my center speaker plugs into the card and the sub, then all speakers into the sub.
