When you go to a concert where do you want your seats to be located ?

Does your Home theater sound system setting reflect your concert seating?

I want seats dead center, not on the floor, and as close as possible within those limitations.
My HT is how I like it for movies, concerts just come along for the ride.
How could it be set for a particular seating preference anyhow? Most concerts are filmed with multiple cameras in various locations.

I prefer front and center but I usually am in the cheaper seats at the back. At home I use the DSP to simulate a larger room than my listening area. Some settings I like and some I do not. I think the DSP would be better if I were to get acoustic treatments. I sit near the back wall and I think I get a little more natural echo which contributes to excess echo.

Yeah Exit, treatments are key to taming "slap echo".

You know, nearly all, if not all, concert halls I've been to have the best acoustics in the back.

That being said, I don't design my HT that way. I try to get it immersive as possible, even if I am held back by some compromises.

Then again, I do find that the recording itself might make me feel that I was either closer to them, or further away. Eve more than the setup itself, but that's just my impression.

Up front and centerand usually too loud for my own good.

Just in front of the soundboard whenever possible.

If it's an unamplified event (classical, etc), 10 - 15 rows back and dead center is best. Too close and things go over your head, too far back the the stereo image gets muddy. For an orchestra, it would be interesting to sit right behind the conductor and find out what he/she hears.

If it's an amplified concert, the best place to be is right in front of the sound guy. Since he is turning the knobs based on what he hears, the closer you get to what he hears, the better.

Classical, center about 5-6 rows back is ideal for me.
