Computer vs Home Theater Speaker Systems

I want to upgrade both my computer and home theater speakers systems, as they're both out dated and beginning to signs of mortality. The question is, do I need to buy new systems for both, or is there a way to use either a computer speaker sysem or home theater system for both?

I would recommend getting a new home theather speaker system. You can use a digital optical or coax output from the sound card on the new PC to send music to the receiver. This is also works great for using the PC as the music server.
In contrast, most PC systems are designed for near field listening and will only work well in small rooms.
