computer speakers/hi-fi speakers

Hi!

Maybe this is a bit silly question, but i think, that the questions aren't silly only answers can be :)

I have a 16m^2 big room (169feet^2) in wich is a pc with 2.1 speakers and connected to a stereo amplifier (very old fisher)

My pc is connected to a tv, becouse i play all DVDs and Divx from pc, and on pc is also stored most of my music.

My question is - is it comparable: pc speakers to hi-fi speakers? (5.1 system)

For pc speakers i would buy logitech z-5500 or is it better to by some cheap hi-fi receiver like yamaha (rx-v457) + speakers DAli axs-8000 for start (and then i'll buy woofer and rear speakers when i'll have money)

speakers will be for listening music, and not so much for home theater...

Are logitech z-5500 that good that can compare to hi-fi system?

I hope that you understand what my problem is.

Any suggestions are apreciated

thx, Mitja

Computer speaker systems can be very good, but I would not say that they ae comparable to normal speakers in most cases. My complaint about Logitech speakers (used to have Z-540 4.1 system) is that the bass is a bit boomy and you cannot turn down the sub level enough to get rid of it.

For your situation, I would personally choose the Yamaha receiver and a pair of decent speakers over computer speakers.

Is it good if i buy some small speakers, connect them on the receiver ("b chanel" ) and use them as a pc speakers. Or would these speakers would be too close to eachother and my head (seat position) and they cannot develop the good sound?

thx
