Hi, I'm trying to hook up my computer to my AV system, so I can play computer games. I'm going to buy a new receiver. Can this be done? And please recommend a good receiver for this. Thanks in advance

All of this depends on what your budget is. As far as the computer to receiver interface goes, I have an Impact Acoustics 5.1 USB audio adapter on the way, so I'll let you know how it goes. From what I've seen, it seems like the best solution for hooking up computers to receivers (because of the lack of analog noise in the digital signal transmission).

Van,

Sure - I have a Dell laptop in my home theater so I can do surround music mixing. However, you'll do best with an external sound card that connects to your receiver using an optical lightpipe connection. That way you're assured of not having a ground loop (hum) when you connect the computer to the receiver.

I'd just use the TOSLINK directly from your Asus to the Yamaha receiver.
