Hi,

I just purchased the Sony KV-32fv310 flat screen analog tv which i am very happy with. It has 2 component video inputs at the back. With my own research i have not been able to find if component video inputs on an interlaced TV will make much difference in picture quality. Currently I am using S-video, which is great, but will component video be much better?

thanks for any help here.

Going from a S Video cable to a good quality Component cable will make a difference.

Keep the length as short as possible.

Have fun!

Component provides the most color bandwidth for video that set will give you - which means better color representation. Use it if possible. In addition, be sure to get a setup DVD and do at least some user-level calibration of your white level (contrast) and black level (brightness) to get the best picture possible. Also be sure to check your sharpness setting for an overzealous factory default.

I recently purchased the Avia home theatre disc. Is there ever a lot of stuff on that disc!

I was amazed by there example of geometry bending when the picture setting is too high!

thanks for the input, i guess the salesman at my cable provider is wrong in saying that i won't see a difference between S-video and component video from a digital cable box. (consiquently they dont offer the digital cable box with component video out - meh)

thanks
