hi, a simple question... i´v got a pioneer dvd player and a yamaha rx v650 a/v receiver, both with component video features.

My question is the following, my TV only has SCART connection.. would there be any picture improvement if I fed the signal via the dvd component to the video componet of the a/v and then via the componet outpu on the a/v to SCART on the TV.

Component OUT » A/V component IN - A/V Component OUT » TV SCART

Thanks for all the help

I was under the impression that SCART could not do component.

Scart or S-video

what if I instead of trying to use the SCART connection on the T.V

DVD Component OUT » A/V component IN - A/V Component OUT » TV SCART,
use

DVD Component OUT » A/V component IN - A/V Component OUT » TV S-Video

Will there be any picture quality gain compared to the normal DVD » TV via SCART

Picture quality

so in your opinion would there be a better picture output if I used the
DVD component OUT » A/V Component IN » A/V monitor out via S-Video than the normal DVD » SCART connection ??

S-Video provides best 480i resolution when compared to Composite and even Component. Component would be necessary for 480p display.

But I do admit not having any experience with SCART.

I noticed that you have a yamaha 450,(I have the 650) is it possible to have a signal inputed via component (DVD) to the AV andf then outputed via S-Video to the TV ??

My Yamaha is a RX-V540. This a/v can have 2 Component inputs and one Component output. So the answer is that I cannot have a Component input to send the Video out as S-Video.

The unit has several Composite inputs and S-Video inputs that can go out as either Composite or S-Video.
