Component Rack/Tv Stand Suggestions

That was the original plan when I ordered the stand, but when I finally got everythin I found out that my center was a little to wide to fit in there with all my gear! It really wasn't a big deal though, I have the center sitting as it is in the pics on top of the stand. The tv just clears it comfortably :).
That is exactly why I have been going on and on about rack dimensions but apparently nobody (other than you avaserfi) is willing to offer a simple opinion on my two choices. :(

From your pictures it kinda looks like the center channel blocks the lower portion of the screen but it may not be that way in real life. That is one thing that I am trying to avoid and if you cannot place the center in the stand the only choice is to raise the TV so the center can go under it. That leads to yet another problem - the center of the screen being higher than your eye level when seated.

I try to help ;). So here is the long version of what happened with me. My old TV stand was a little lower than the new one so there was no problem with the center channel sitting on top. With the new one there was a difference in 2 or so inches which did cause some visible cut off on the screen bottom when I had my "anglers" (see doorstops) under the center. To solve this situation I went to Lowes and bought some clear plastic furniture risers and put them under my couch. I raised it a total of 1" and that mostly solved my problem. If I slump too much in my seat then the top of the center might cut into my picture, but in the end my sitting posture has gotten better which I can't complain about ;).

I have my screen set up so eye level is at the between the bottom 1/3 and top half of the screen which is actually where I like it. At my seating distance (about 7.5 feet with a 42") I find this puts no strain on my eyes and I am able to easily see the whole screen.

Also, on the subject of screens: I have yet to see the Toshiba displays you are eying so much but I strongly recommend at least comparing with Sharps (side by side if possible) before buying. I am very happy with my Sharp as you may have noticed. :)
