Component menus through Denon 3808 on hdmi

My VCR and Subwoofer have video menus with a blue background (connected through composite) to my 3808. The VCR menu will flash then the screen goes black until the menu is gone, the subwoofer won't show at all. They show fine if hooked directly to my tv. I'm thinking the receiver thinks there is no signal (snow, blue screen) but can't find a setting to allow the signal through. My other thought is that it is a problem with the analog menu being converted to digital. Anyone have a solution other than hooking everything up through component?

Thanks,
Brad

I may be incorrect, but I believe it's an issue with the TV as to whether it can accept a 480i signal via HDMI. Some TVs don't.

Thanks for your reply. My tv does accept 480i input. The input from the sub works fine when connected to the tv. The manual states it's an accepted format through hdmi. I appreciate your time in trying to help.

Does that receiver trans-code your composite video to HDMI digital? Maybe it doesn't?

Yes, the video comes through from the VCR fine. When you try to use the menu it appears for a second then blacks out. Thanks for thinking about my concern.
