Component Cables Worth It In This Case?

I just bought the least expensive Denon DVD-1710 player and a Sony 20" CRT TV. Do you think it worth it to buy component cables for this setup? My investment in the player and TV is about $345 less tax. Is it worth it to spend $40+ on cables? I have two cables for audio that I'll be setting up into my Rotel RA-1062 int amp. I know I'll upgrade the setup in the future so maybe it's worth the investment...

Thanks for your input.

Yes, buy component cables. You can spend $20 at RadioShack or Walmart. Component Video is the best of the three types of common video connections.

I agree that you can get component cables relatively cheaply at Radio Shack (I don't shop Sam's place much.) What you should do is conduct a test and see for yourself. I used Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and tested s-video vs. component on a relatively cheap Samsung DVD/VCR player hooked up to a older Sony 32 XBR Wega. I did see slightly more detail with the component video cables, especially in the shadows/blacks/grays. There was also some difference in the colors displayed but unless I had them side-by-side I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference. Just MHO.

Once you decide, just return the cable that you don't need...good luck and keep your receipt.
