Compact Receiver/Integrated Amp

I have a system with an Adcom Pre, a Hafler Amp, B&W 601s, an upgraded earthquake sub, and a Marantz DV-7001. I also have a speaker switcher that allows me to use my small Celestion speakers with my computer. I am going to move my system to my living room, and am looking to get a small receiver or an integrated amp to make the Celestions into a compact computer system. Any recommendations for such a receiver/integrated amp that is sub $500?

I'm looking for something with a smaller footprint and only stereo I don't need a multichannel. just something small and that sounds good.

Receivers arent a problem. It's when one gets particularly choosy about size that the field narrows down considerably. This is the only one I can think of that comes close to your desires and, even then, it's pretty deep.

...but it DOES have a built in CD player. Again, when size dictates, the field can become extremely narrow.

Another option comes to mind.

The Parasound "Z" series (towards the bottom of the page) has a series of tiny separates that you can cobble together to make whatever you want.

The Teac CR-H227i is the same as that NAD (NAD outsourced to Teac). The Teac is cheaper, and comes with an iPod dock by default. You would have to purchase NAD's special iPod dock extra to get the same features. IMO, the Teac CR-H227i or older if you don't need USB or iPod dock capabilities. You may be able to find the Teac CR-H225 around still. I currently use the Teac CR-H220 with my Boston Acoustics CR 57 bookshelf speakers with my PC. I have no problems of any kind with mine. If you can get the amp for around $200 or less as well it would cost about the same as the Teac, and offer more power. The connectivity would be about the same, it would take up slightly more space, and it would lack a CD player. I am assuming the PC would be the main source of your music anyway, so the Zpre and Zamp is a good solution as well.

At about $500, I think of some "audiophile" brands like NAD, Cambridge Audio, Music Hall. If willing to go used.. here are the audiogon search results with $500 max limit.

If it wasn't clear in my previous posts. Buying the NAD C175 makes NO sense, unless you are obsessed with the brand. It's still a Teac product (and a solid one to boot).
