Hello people hope all is well. I just recently sold my Yamaha RX-V757 receiver and have ordered the Pioneer1015. I know I could have waited and gotten the 1016 BUT HDMI switching is not that big of a deal to me. So, have I made a good decision???? Is the Pioneer1015 better than the Yamaha RX-V757???? By all accounts it at least appears to be as far as reviews are concerned. Is there any forum member here that has owned both and as such had the opportunity to do a direct comparison???? What speakers did you use to do the comparison???? If so, please speak up and share your comments. Have a great day.

Wow not even one comment. Well, maybe today someone that has owned both the Yamaha RX-V757 and the Pioneer 1015 will share his experiences with me. I used to also own a Yamaha RX-V650 and really liked it as well. Gosh I hope I made a good decision.

I guess nobody has owned both. So it will be up to you to tell _us_ about your experiences with these. :)

Maybe you could start by telling us what prompted you to sell your Yamaha and order the Pioneer? I'd be interested in that.

Well as mentioned I did own the Yamaha RX-V650. I must say I really liked it but decided on upgrading. After months of researching I decided upon the Pioneer 1015. However, the time I went to buy one it was "out of stock" so I got an awesome deal on the Yamaha RX-V757 and took it. If I had NOT gotten such a good deal on the 757 I would have waited till the Pioneer 1015 was back in stock. So to answer your question I guess I have the "what ifs" so to speak. Was hoping to find someone that has some experience with both of these---they dont necessarily have to own them previously. Yamaha makes excellent receivers but for some reason I preferrred the 650 over the 757 in terms of sound and power.

Well, Pioneer makes some very good equipment too, so I don't think I'd say you made a terrible choice or anything. :)

Hey, if you spent this much time on researching it and making your decision, I'm sure it will turn out fine.

Don't worry about it and I'm sure you'll love the new Pioneer. (Getting new toys is fun just in itself.) :)

Just went to the Yamaha site, and noticed they have some new models.

http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/receivers/RXV659.htm

Other than features, I don't think you'll notice a big difference between 100 wpc and 110 wpc unless you're driving some very demanding speakers without bass management.

Let us know if you hear a difference. It's been my experience there's not much difference in the $600 and under category, although the 1015 is one of the best avr's in that price class. I've always been a fan of Yamaha, so I'd be interested to hear your opinion.

Buckeye I will be more than happy to share my findings with respect to the Pioneer 1015 and how well it stacks up against the Yamaha RX-V650 and the RX-V757. It will be arriving soon.
