I'm thinking of using my NAD 3240PE Integrated amp to drive the front channels in my HT setup and my Yamaha RX-V2400 to drive all the other speakers.

The NAD is rated @ 40wpc, but easily pumps out +6db more than that in headroom. The Yammie is rated @ 120wpc.

Would there be a power or level mismatch between

Ooops, didn't finish my question:

Would there be a power or level mismatch between the two amps?

No because you set the output levels on the Yamaha receiver to the same for the the fronts. This eliminates the power mismatch. At one point I used a huge Rotel amp to drive my mains and a 60 watt NAD receiver doing the center and surrounds. Worked very well. Just make sure you reset the levels when you add the amp.

I think it would work fine. As long as you match the levels using a sound meter, it will be matched.

And you'll probably enjoy the result even more (the NAD is likely to sound better than the Yamaha). This will pay big dividends if you run the receiver in 2 Channel Direct mode for music.

Excellent. Would YPAO be able to set the levels for the mains? Would it not just increase or lower the output from the front L & R pre-outs on the Yamaha?
