I was eating a tasty Italian grinder when I saw this thread and was in such a hurry to share what I thought was a great idea that I slammed my pinky toe into a tool box and made it freakin' bleed.

This is your fault and you might be hearing from my lawyer!

Ugh, that hurt and I got blood on the rug.
Anybody ever tell you they were sick of your sound panels? :D

Okay, now on to my bright idea. Right now your color choice is tieing back into the floor. It works (kind of) but what you are missing (IMO) is that for those frames to blend into the rest of your home, you need to treat them as the wood work (trim) in the rest of your home. My take is to let the sound panels be the sound panels and to let the woodwork be the wood work. Paint them (or just one for starters) that white semi gloss that's on your trim and watch them blend right into your home not just your A/V gear. IMO this isn't a matter of personal taste. It's a matter of right and wrong. Be on the side of right ParadigmDawg. :)

PS: Maybe this is what I get for goofing on you sweating your balls off in your attic.

I think my main concern is Thanksgiving. We will have 25 family members over who will think I have lost my mind, turning my livingroom into a HT room.

They will be there for what a day or two? You live with them everyday, Dont decorate your house to make someone else happy (unless the wife maybe) besides, they are the crazy ones for being happy watching movies with tv speakers and listening to music through a little boom box. if that. ;)

I am glad you hurt your tow while you were thinking about me:D

Huh???? White????

What you don't see is I have 8'' oak crown molding that is the natural color.

From previous stalking and drooling over your gear I am aware of the crown. I'm just suggesting that you establish conformity on the wood work on the walls. Leave the floor and ceiling alone for a minute. You think I'm nuts. I can tell but I think I'm right. You have obviously never had a Bosnian decorate your home. Poor bastard. :(

I think that black frames would be just much black in that area. I was trying to figure out what I would like, and right now, I agree with Alex. I like his suggestion.

I'm almost tempted to agree with trying them in white. They may blend in very well. WOW... that's something I would have never thought of.

It looks a lot better in white and blends in with the wall more.

I like the way it blends right now.:)
It's comments like this that will make doing the right thing more difficult. :D
I know it holds a certain appeal for Lazy Dawg but Doer Dawg already knows what must be done. Now it's just a matter of time before Paradigm Dawg beats Lazy Dawg down and unleashes Doer Dawg. Paradigm Dawg should also remove the 'Thanks' from the above poster because pandering to Lazy Dawg is how one ends up in the dog house. :) :D Just kidding but man I have fun while I'm doing it. Still not worth banging up my little pinky toe but what could make up for that? Wait, let me get my camera ...

A friend of mine says that the mark of a real craftsman is work that doesn't halt the eye. He says that you should be able to walk into a room and give it a quick visual with out having any one thing jump out at you. I build 'rooms'. The same lesson according to him would apply to furnishings and art. I don't necessarily agree 100% on everything but you get the picture. Having an eye catch is usually a boo-boo.

The more I sit here and look at the black frames around my panels, I would say don't do it. Yours look fine as they are. I've been thinking of redoing mine in a full cloth wrap like your one picture.

It's starting to look to me like you have too much energy and are just looking for a new project.

That's the best part!! And if they think you've lost your mind, trust me, it's only jealousy talking, whether they admit to it or not... :D

Well, the new sub project should take care of that....
Good idea. forget the treatments. The sub you have on the way will make an ultra look like a cute girly toy.... And that's if you use it sealed. Ported has potential for dangerous output levels ;).
