The well water quality varies here in NJ because of all of the current and past pollutions from chemical manufacturing, our well water ducks are only suitable for grass irrigation untreated. That said, I know where you coming from. We used to live in NYC, and tap water there is among the best. Here in NJ, tap water sucks. We had to install a fairly expensive whole house filter and softner immediately.

It varies here too. If you live near agriculture, which is common outside of the larger metro areas here, your well has a good chance of not being untouched. My old town was above where the agriculture was, so it was as clean as it gets. All the people are jammed into smaller areas, while agriculture is probably a much larger proportion of the state due to our weather.

Aeropress Definitely a grind, amount of coffee and steep time thing. I actually enjoy the effort and tweaks and realize how little can make so much difference. I still haven’t made a “bad cup” yet. I long ago used drip pot and could get a good pot but never less. I only drink one to two cups per day. So pot doesn’t work for me. And definitely over the Keurig. Previously I was using a Delonghi 702 and doing Americano but too much work.
I have a double cup. I fill it to whereabout the 3 cup would be between the chrome band and the 4. I have made that amount so often I can tell how much water I need by feel of the weight of it. It's just one of those lucky things that happens to make a great cup of coffee.

I DIY'd a Berkey type filter for me, my plants and the pets.

I love my coffee in the morning. Fresh ground.I do know one thing, if you have horrible tasting tap water you will have an unpleasant coffee taste.
