Clicking Noise Help

On my parent's speakers (its one of those 5.1 Sony ones where everything comes in one box and you just plug in the color coded connectors to the central hub) there's a really annoying clicking sound coming from the center channel.

With the volume on the TV maxed out and the volume on the speakers as low as possible its still decently audible. I've tried unplugging and replugging all the connections. I've also set it up into 2 Channel stereo mode to see if it was the speaker or something else, and the clicking sound started to come out of the L-R speakers instead. So its not the speaker.

Does anyone have any ideas? It had been working fine for over a year until just recently.

Does it happen for all inputs, even tuner?
Does it happen even when there is nothing playing with the unit it powered on?
Is its volume altered by the volume control?

Sounds like a trip to the repair shop is in the wings...

Its happens on all inputs and when the unit is on but there is no sound coming from the source.

Raising he volume on the speakers makes the clicking sound louder, but raising the volume on the TV does not.

Definitely seems like something in the guts of the Sony is the issue and needs to be checked out by a qualified tech.
