Ironic, because we were watching it last night too. I wasn't totally disappointed, because we found it to be so bad that it was funny. IMO, the best part of the whole movie was the flute scene LMAO!!

As far as the review goes, well, you may have found it "long," but that's just my style, coupled with the fact that I simply needed to report on all aspects of the film to analyze it, and then extend that to the technical specifications as well.

I guess I didn't like their re-imagined version. This one felt rather "dumbed down" comparatively. It didn't deliver on the same level as the story of the first one. It reminded me of Transformers. They spent so much time and effort on the CG/Effects that literally the story and characters took a back seat.

I liked this movie a lot.....

As far as story goes, this new version makes a lot more sense than the old one.

Like what guy would risk his own neck to save some chick that he hardly knows?

Or fall in love with some chick that he hardly knows?

Oh, yeah, that's a good plot.

Now how about this one:

You KILL my entire FAMILY; now I want to KILL you.

And I fall in love with this pretty half-goddess because 1) I see her EVERYDAY & 2) I'm also a half-god.

It wasn't my sub that sucked

The only thing that was better delivered here was the whole "I have to do this as a man" aspect. Other than that, it was a rehashed Miller Lite version. Not saying that the original was some epic story, but at least it felt like an actual mythology story. Also missing was a lot of the lightheartedness and not one character in the new one had a single endearing quality. They were little more than Zeus's chess pieces.

Perseus was trying to save the city of Argos (and the chick) in the first one, not just seeking revenge. So, yes, it makes sense. Hmmmm...he doesn't actually know the new chick either, so that's out the window She's been watching over him for his whole life, but he had no idea that she was, so he doesn't know her at all.

I thought it was more than a decent remake -- not stellar or perfect -- but more exciting than the stop-action original.

Ok, rented and watched this other night. I thought it was okay, not great, not sure I'll buy the blu-ray unless I come across it for $10 over the holidays.
I don't know why this is bugging me...but does anyone else wonder how Perseus managed to get such a nice clean shaven head of hair for a fisherman?? I'm assuming they didn't have a razor or scissors. Do daggers work that well? I might have to go get a kitchen knife over my lunch break here and see what I can do...hm.

LOL!, watched this last night, never seen the orig. but i thought it was decent, about the same feelings as everyone else, was an alright movie, not the best, not the worst, and would buy it, if i seen it for a cheap/decent price. my gf didnt think to much to it.

Indeed, that was a funny comment about being a demi god...

Thanks for the input, Hostility; you owe it to yourself to watch the original at some point even just to compare how drastically different they are from one another technically. At the time of the original, special effects were at their high point with ridiculously cheesy stop-action movements and such, and the original Clash was a good example of the time.

I thought I was going to buy the remake for my own collection, because I liked it, but alas, I just didn't get around to it -- so it probably wasn't as memorable as my memory made it out to be. It was definitely a good rental, though.

Keep your eyes posted for my review of the Iron Man 2 Blu-ray...
