So comparing elac and polk do the polks have tighter bass or are they overpowering?I dont like a boomy bass that drowns out the mids and highs or where they are more pronounced.
I didn't find a similar review on the Polk. The question of tight bass could apply to a big woofer but not on small bookshelf speakers.
The Elac doesn't have a boomy bass and I would go for that product.

I have owned a few Polk speakers, and for the most part there bass tends to be more on the boomy/mushy side. As far as Q Acoustics, their bass is good and the mids and highs are clear. And either Yamaha or Denon will be fine with the Q Acoustics speakers
