Just picked up a panasonic bdp 110 with checkerboard 3d format. Will I lose the 3d signal if I hook it up through my onkyo tsxr707 (1.3hdmi) to my Mitsubishi 3d ready dlp? This bd player is the cheapie w only 1 hdmi out. Any help is greatly appreciated as google did not help with this one. Thanks in advance!

Run the HDMI video directly to the TV and Optical out for Audio to the Onkyo.

On second thought, try it first. If you run into issues, you can go the route mentioned above.

You need to try it to find out. Sometimes, things do more than just what they are advertised as doing, and sometimes not.

The standard for HDMI 1.3 does not require that capability:

HDMI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The problem with sending the HDMI straight to the TV and using the optical digital connection to the receiver is that you will be limited to the types of audio formats that are on DVDs and will lose the newer superior audio formats that way. This is why having two HDMI outputs is a good idea for 3D players, except for those with newer receivers that can pass a 3D signal.

If you can access the cables conveniently, you might want to hook up directly to the TV only when watching 3D (assuming that you cannot pass 3D through your receiver; see above) and otherwise hook it up to your receiver so that you can have better sound. Or you might want to return the player and buy a higher model with 2 HDMI outputs or upgrade to a new receiver or simply make do with inferior sound from the optical digital connection or hook up the HDMI to the receiver and not use 3D.
