Center speaker is quiet

As soon as I got my new 5.1 speakers I noticed the center is a little more quiet compared to the fronts and rears. Trying to fix the problem, I turned the fronts down to -5 to even the volume out like the rears and turned up the center to +3. After doing this the center still seems a little quiet. This confuses me because the center has two cones so you'd think I'd be slightly louder. So my question is, can I turn up the center channel even more to match the rest of the speakers without harming it?

Perhaps you need to go into the setup menu of the receiver and check that you have selected front center and size small/large as appropriate.

Have the distance also set. Use spl meter to level match all channels.
