Hi

I am in the market for a new center speaker and would appreciate some advice.

My current set up made up of Dynaudio Excite X32 Mains, Polk Audio LC80FX In ceiling rears, Yamaha DSP-Z7 and a Pioneer 50” Plasma.

I need a wall mounted centre that will fit under the plasma. Unfortunately there isn’t the room for the matching Dynaudio center.

So far I have come up with the following but I have no idea what would be a good match.

Artcoustic DF-Multi TI X2
Athena WS-60
Infinity CC225
Infinity TSS-CENTER4000
Monitor Audio R one HD
Monitor Audio R250HD

Any recommendations please?

Many thanks

It must be wall mountable and ideally about 12cm deep. Tv width is 123cm so width and height aren't an issue.

And abviously needs to sound great and on a par with my Dynaudio's

Have you considered in wall? Maybe dynaudio could recommend one of theirs?

I did but I don't think i've got the wall depth as there is a chimney behind it.

Thanks for the reccomendation. They don't seem to be here in the UK though.

Also forgot about Definitive Technology. Any of the Mythos rage would be the correct size.

Depending on your room size, Id even consider skipping the center, and run the mains only. Some have good success when running a different brand center, but most dont. Id think that a bit of time EQing to match the mains would help.

The room is 5x4m and the mains are about 4m apart along the 5m wall. Do you think it's worth trying?

Ya, I've done it in my bedroom systems with no issues. There are a few members that do it. Your mains are solid so give it a shot.

I presume I will need to set the DSP-Z7 to support not having a center speaker? If so any idea what the mode/settings need to be?

Well I can't get on with having no center speaker, maybe the mains are too far apart?

So back to the best center speaker... I'm leaning toward the Def Tech Mythos ten's.

Opinions please

A general rule of thumb is around 7-10 feet apart is good for mains. If you're hearing a "gap" in the center, then toe them in until the gap goes away. You should do that regardless of whether you've got a center or not - main left/right speakers should always image with no gap between them.

How about contacting RBH and seeing if they've got a dealer near you?

My mains are 14ft apart. It's that or 5ft due to limitations.

They are toed in and hi-fi sounds great with no holes.

Thanks for the recommendation. Look like US only and i'm ine the UK though
