Center Channels...JBL S-Center?

I'm looking for a decent center channel. I've never heard of this one but I saw it in a local pawn shop. They are asking $170. I would attempt to talk them down (probably <$80). Has anyone ever heard this one? Any recommendations are welcome! I guess I would spend up to $175 for a decent center.

That thing is close to 10yrs old at this point, AFAIK. Not bad at all, but that is what you could have bought them for new when they phased out those models.

The real issue is that you would only want to buy that if you were going to find some matching S36 or S38 bookshelf or S-312 mains to go along with it for a timbre matched front stage.

Looks like some one took care of them - Pawn shops will only come down so far.
Make sure you demo them and put your ear close to the tweeter. However, j
garcia is correct about finding matching front speakers.

As it happens, I'm using JBL S-26IIs as fronts. I've got a pair of old Band and Olufsen RL140s that someone gave me--these are supposed to be my fronts but the foam is all rotted. I'm trying to refoam them but haven't gotten the balls to do it yet. So I shouldn't buy this center if I'm not planning to get more JBL speakers to use as fronts? Confused.

If you are using the S-26 speakers now - then that is fine. The center
will not work well, with the Band and Olufsen as fronts.

I'm not being rude in any way, but why wouldn't it work well? Im not understanding. What would work well with the B&O's (lets assume I'm able to refoam...)?

You want to timbre match your center with your mains so you should stay within the same brand/series speakers. Surrounds-not so important.

You are not being rude -that is a good question.

The sound stage will not be even (in the same plane or line) from
left to right or right to left. The dimension will not balance out.
A good example, is to play music through the 3 channels.

I have a S-centerII and I love the thing...blows away any other center I have owned.
