I don't think it would have to be too thick of a plate, just wide and deep enough to block the field the speaker is creating (maby the same width and depth as the TV).
Oh, you are talking about the cap on the woofers that are shielded. Those just help they don't carry out the main function of shielding. In order to shield it you have to put another magnet on the back of the existing magnet structure, I believe it is called a bucker magnet. The bucker magnet is a little smaller than the main magnet structure and is attached to were the magnets repel one another and this shortens the magnetic fields if memory serves me correct.

Anyone feel free to make any corrections to my statements, as I think I may be loosing my mind around the hour of 12 a.m.

hmm, did'nt know that.
a plate would help some, not shure how much. :confused:
where's some one who knows about this stuff when you need it?

Yes, magnetically shielded speakers use bucking magnets that cancell out the mag field. There's no lead lining in the cab or anything like that.;) :p
