cd player needs repair

I am not an audioholic per se, I have a modest two channel setup in my bedroom that includes a cheap Teac PD-D2410 cd player. Recently it has decided to not read cd's of any kind. Is it possible to have this 100 dollar cd player repaired or do I just need to toss it and buy something new. I am thinking about selling my setup anyhow to upgrade but the cd player is giving me problems. If anyone had any advice on this please let me know.

The lens assembly might just be dirty (dust, maybe a piece of hair). You could try to clean that off yourself. Others here have more experience with that. You might be able to do it without taking anything apart (personally, I'd open the disc tray and blow into the opening with compressed air, a fan, or a hairdryer). You could take the top off and probably find the lens pretty easily.

If you really like the player, and that doesn't fix it, then service is an option. For a $100 player, though, I think that you'd be a lot better off just buying a new one. Having it serviced could cost you a lot more than that.

EDIT: I just saw your other thread where you want to sell it and mention that you're going to try to clean it.

I will try the blowing air thing into the tray. I don't really want to open it up I might just break it worse. I was also going to go out and get one of those disc cleaners and see if that helps.
