Actress Catherine O'Hara dies at 71

O'Hara, known for iconic films like "Beetlejuice" and "Home Alone," has died.

She was looking pretty old of late, but she was still very solid in the things she was in. One of the greats of my generation. She was so good in Schitt's Creek. We haven't started watching The Studio, but she's in that as well. Of course, Beetlejuice. RIP Catherine.

During the mid-seventies, there was a kid's show on CBC called "Coming Up Rosie". My sisters and I watched it after school.

At the time, the cast was a bunch of unknowns, including O'Hara. But, it included a bunch of - soon to be - SCTV, SNL and movie stars.

She was my favorite actress. Been a fan since SCTV before SCTV was on NBC. . She was brilliant in "For Your Consideration", which was one of Christopher Guest's mockumentaries. Also, love this iconic skit:

I'd forgotten that sketch. I think it's a send up of "Reach For The Top", a Canadian trivia competition amongst high schools.
