Sratman,

As for the true to the book, this movie with Daniel Craig is more true to the novel.
True to the novel?!?!? In what way?

About the ONLY thing that was true to the book were the names of the characters. As a life-long Bond fan who has read the books, I knew that they were going to change the story. You don't have the KGB and Russia as a bad-guy character anymore, so it wouldn't make sense to do it like the book, (unless you were doing a period piece). That said, I did enjoy the movie, even though it had hardly anything to do with the book. But I could tell that from the previews. I remember seeing the trailer and thinking, "Okay. I don't remember ANY of that from the book."

I just wonder why they kept Judi Densch as M, when she's been playing the current M. They should have brought in someone new to play the "old M".

I guess my comment came out wrong before. This movie is not like the novel. It's more like the novel than the Peter Sellers' Casino Royale comedy. Yes, this movie is in modern times, with some of the characters from the novel. But, kind of updated w/the money laundering bad guy replacing the KGB/Russians. But I do agree, they should have replaced all actors and started over, having the same "M" as the past several movies is a tie-in from the previous Brosnon era that wasn't needed. It's like the evil arms dealer in Timothy Dalton's Bond; The Living Daylights, who shows up in one of Brosnon's bond as a CIA contact/helper! What?! Am I the only one who notices things like this? Casting agents and script supervisors should notice stuff like this. Unneccesary links to the other movies.

That's funny that you mention that. I just got the Ultimate Edition box set of DVD's for my birthday and I just watched Tomorrow Never Dies yesterday. I was thinking the same thing, "Isn't that CIA dude the same guy as the arms dealer from Living Daylights?"

Yes he is, riding around Cuba in a BMW Z 3. He's also the evil arms dealer (aren't they all??):D

They should have made the film based on an early timeline (1958-1960) that way it fits into the proceeding movies: Dr.No, Goldfinger, etc.

Just watched it last night on my laptop. I thought it was a good movie, Daniel Craig is an excellent replacement for Bronson. Can't wait for the next one to be released.
