Received all 3 carver amps back from Nelion Audio this am spent about 5 hours reinstalling them with a time consuming much needed dusting of everything . The amps themselves look and sound amazing am glad I done this instead of purchasing new . Took the time to switch out to all new WBC wires that I’d been buying since the amps took a hit with a power surge from a lightning strike . These should last me for 20 more years .

How much did this cost and do they warranty their work (for how long)?
370.00 for each one and new led meter lamps and they give you a 3 year warranty which is more than when they were new . I need to recalibrate probably tomorrow as iam running off the old calibration . Totally disassembled all new parts and washed and polished inside and out and reflow of any solder that looked iffy . 3 year warranty parts and labor . I looked hard at Buckeye amps and a few other brands but cost wise this was more cost effective for me and I knew they would sound really good . And they do .

Nice. 3Yr warranty is longer than some brand new amps. :D

Seriously, I have no life.
I Just checked out their website and saw the photos of the red power amps.

WTF is this? Alligator clips on wires that are connected to the amp's bindng posts?

Standard safe testing procedure. Those clips are connected to dropping resistors. Powerful amps at power have high voltages at the speaker terminals.

Part of my question involves the use of the banana plugs AND alligator clips.

If you look closely you can see those banana plugs have dropping resistors attached. Using those alligator clips is standard practice. There is nothing unusual or irregular in that picture.

I do know they burn in the amps on dummy loads for 24 hours after a rebuild I would assume that’s what is being done hear .

Those on not dummy loads they are to drop voltage to connect safely to other tests equipment like a scope, distortion analyzers. That is not a power test in the picture.

Iam not sure this stuff is out of my knowledge range but there testing something lol . On a side note I have seen these clips before on test equipment rigged up just like this for probably just the tests you described .

How can you know this if the photo doesn't show test equipment? Test leads, sure, but I didn't see other equipment. And, as an example, the BPI distortion analyzer has a button next to the channel selectors with 'Load IN/Out', while every scope I have seen has a control for V/Division which, by design, allows a wide range of voltage to be displayed on the screen in a usable way. If 450+VDC plate voltage can be viewed, why would ~55VAC be a problem (375W@8 Ohms)?

Those show the Nakamichi logo and part of the name- they're also color-coded Red & Black- I think those are banana plugs, not dropping resistors. Also, the clips are attached to the sleeve, which would be in contact with the pin and I never knew Nakamichi to offer dropping resistors. Those could easily be at the end of the wires and out of the picture, but does it make sense to use extra connections during a test?

I'm sure they are dropping resistors. This is just how you do it. I have done similar many times. There is nothing out of order here, so give it a rest.
