Just picked up a Carver CT-17 preamp at good will for $40 :) Anyone have any experience with this model? I hooked it up and it does work, but I don't think it is as good as my PS Audio 4.6. but more comparison is needed. I may just end up selling it, but it was my first, fairly good, "Good Will" find.

That's a good find, especially if it was in good shape. It doesn't reel a consistant amount on ebay, but it's a safe bet you could get at least $100 out of it. You could always keep it as a backup or build another system.:)

I have had one since new , its a good pre , i now use it in 2 channel only . Did you get the remote for it ? there are alot of features , you can only access from the remote , also its got a very good phono section and good tuner . Try the Sonic Holigram section in 2 channel stero , it works very good , but speaker placement is critical , it will open up your soundstage , here is link to help you with Sonic holigram http://thecarversite.com/sonic holography disc/sonicholography.htm .
