the front of my box is painted and want to do the sides and top with one piece of carpet or vinyl but the edge has to look clean since I have no place to fold the edge over to hide it with the front being painted.

thanks

What about some laminate and flush trim with a router or dremmel?

Check out Wilson Art. Pretty cool stuff avail for special order at home depot.

Here is a pic,
The vinyl i used did not have a clean edge so i had to work with a piece twice as big, first folding it in half and glueing it to itself to get the clean edge im looking for, but I have a lot of air bubbles now.
If i can find a piece with a clean edge it will be much easier to work with.

thanks

If you want to make the vinyl thinner, peel the backing off, carefully. Then, brush some contact cement on both surfaces and wait until it's barely tacky before folding it over. You can use a pin to pop the bubbles- you shouldn't be able to see the holes but the cement may squeeze out. You'll want to wait until it dries completely to remove the cement- masking or duct tape works well for this. Stick it on and pull it off quickly- the glue comes off with the tape.

Can someone tell me how I can achieve a finish for the sides and top only like the one in the attached pic.
it looks like the corners are rounded as well so it must be flexible.
Also if it requires triming the front with a router to make it flush, is there a way to get it flush without messing up the painted front?

I think I may try to use this stuff

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=261-610&scqty=1

I wanted to know if I should maybe use a glue as well around the corners so they hold better or is it not needed?

thanks
I think that laminate is Peel N Stick and if you overlap it, you'll see it. If you have a router, make a 1/4" x 1/4" cut at all corners, stick the laminate on and inlay a strip of whatever material you like- wood, bamboo, solid surface material or metal. That way, you won't have any overlaps at all. This would work for any kind of laminate- wood veneer, melamine (Wilsonart, Formica, etc) or solid surface material.

I plan on taking off the vinyl and putting something else on, the front of the box is black lacquer, I wanted to know what I could use to remove the 3m spray adheisive that will not harm the finish which is on the front only.

Thanks
