I have (2) 10" subs in a box. I got them on a trade they've just been sitting in the garage cause I never had time to hook them up. I just got a denon avr-4802 and I have (2) dx-9's hooked up to it, and I was wondering if I could hook up these subs? Because they are intended for a car I didn't know if this would work or if I might damage something. Can I hook them up to my denon?
I would not recommend connecting them directly to the Denon, this would result in poor acoustic and power performance, even with such a massive receiver.
External amplification would be needed (pro amps), and proper enclosures for the subs. Sub boxes built for cars don't work well in rooms in most all cases.
You would need an external equalizer between the receiver and the pro-amp.
The DX-9's have good extension on their own. The 10" subwoofers would have to be extremely high quality to be considered for what you propose.
IMO, you'd be putting forth a lot of time, money, and effort to make those subwoofers work in your system and the possibility the performance would not be good at all.
If you want to build a good quality subwoofer I suggest reading a lot in the DIY area of these forums to get a feel of how building a home subwoofer would be.
My advice, put those 10" woofers in the box up on craigslist and let some kid buy them for his car so he can pound his hearing away inside his Honda Civic.
