The cd changer in my truck is on the "fritz". I have 2 outlets in my dash, one is marked "power" and the other says nothing. Is there any way...and I know this sounds crazy, that I could hook up a small,(Alpine 30W x2) car amp into the power outlet in my truck and run( 2) 4 ohm coaxial speakers through a portable cd player...it has a volume control so I assumed that it would act as a pre amp???? I'm leaving on a trip in a few hours and I didn,t want to mess with headphones....It's also illegal in OR. to use them while driving. Am i dreaming or is this possible without blowing something up? Thanks....I realize this is not your typical pre amp,amp type question!

If it was me, I would go to walmart and audition a "boombox" for the road trip. Done that before, some come with a remote and ipod/mp3 capabilities. Better than wasting time rigging something that may not work.

That power outlet is for a computer, cell phone or something that doesn't draw a lot of current. If you connect a power amp of any kind, it will blow the fuse. The wire gauge isn't adequate for a power amp.
