can't utilize vcr input, please help

I'm trying to run a dvd player through the vcr and I can't get the signal through, I used this one as a cable box before and the tv cable will play as an input but not the input vid, l aud, r aud, is the unit wierd needs adjustment or is it just that you can't run a dvd through the vcr, much easier than unplugging the cords every time to switch players. thanks in advance.

You don't want to

You shouldn't run a DVD through the VCR. It will cause the copyright protection to kick in and cause "fading" of the picture (going from a light image to a darker one, and back). If you do have to run the DVD through the VCR check the input selection on the VCR, it might not be set to the proper input.

You can also get a simple switch box like this:

That way you don't have to change wires, just push a button.

The switch box would be the way to go, because watching a DVD with copy protection is not fun
