Can't control my reciever with my onkyo remote...

For some reason I cannot control my onkyo receiver (with my onkyo remote) while my Philips 47" LCD TV is on. After I first installed my surround (last week) it worked fine for about 3 days. I'm thinking about looking up a few different codes for my tv to see if it may be a signal problem. Any ideas?

How close is the TV to the face of the receiver and are they facing each other? Is direct sunlight hitting the face of the receiver? Both will make controlling it difficult, if not impossible. If the ambient light level was low when you first turned the TV on and for the first few days and you're using it more during the day now, it may be related.

Make sure the batteries are fresh, too.

I blocked the sun because there is a small amount hitting the volume dial and it was working fine. The only thing is that it does it at night as well.

There was a rumored conflict between some remotes Onkyo and some LCD TVs but I have no clue if they are true or not. I do know that I returned the TX-SR876 I bought last December because the remote wouldn't reliably control the receiver. I wound up with a TX-NR906 because Amazon was out of 876s and it's worked fine with the same TV in the room.

Harmony 510 and 550. Both recertified. I've had experience with both (new). I currently use the 550 and love it. I bought a 510 for my folks and programmed it.

I tried an 880 with my 1st Onkyo and it fared no better than the stock remote. The problem was in the receiver not the remote itself.

Hrmm I'd hate to have to buy a logitech remote just to control something that the remote was designed to control.
-The batteries are new
-The controller is set to reciever
-As soon as I turn my tv off I can control my onkyo without hesitation.

It sounds like your remote buttons aren't set for the correct devices when your TV is turned on via remote...
